Many know Coca-Cola as a soda that they absorb with their popcorn. However, Coca-Cola has significantly impacted civilization. Coca-Cola affects the world and our community more than many know.
Coca-Cola has had a tremendous impact on people’s health. Coca-Cola alone can increase blood sugar levels. According to Medical News Today, this change triggers the brain’s pleasure centers similar to heroin. Consuming sugary drinks such as Coca-Cola can also affect the quality of sleep. Some compounds have effects on memory and motor ability. Some of these effects can lead to ADHD in children. In a study on rats, they showed signs of decreased liver and kidney capacities when drinking Coca-Cola. Individuals protesting against Coca-Cola’s work in India.

In Coca-Cola’s pursuit of water for their products, people have accused them of drinking the world dry. In these pursuits, they have dried up farmers’ wells, destroyed local communities, and violated works rights. Notably, Coca-Cola is stealing water from places in need of it. India is the main one. The people of India have organized campaigns against the company. War on Want did a study confirming that Coca-Cola’s activities negatively impacted farmers and local communities. According to War on Want, “… Coca-Cola is having a devastating impact on water resources elsewhere. In El Salvador, the company has been accused of exhausting water resources over 25 years.”. Coca-Cola has promoted anti-union activities, and transport workers sued them. Coca-Cola has a broad spectrum and has affected many people and India, El Salvador, and many other countries with their greed and neglect.

For a long time, no one knew the economic impact Coca-Cola had on local communities. Such as Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America. However, Stewart Red Queen has estimated Coca-Cola’s socio-economic direct and indirect impacts. This data mostly focuses on Morocco. When the study was complete, they found that Coca-Cola created about 27,000 jobs or 0.3% of Morocco’s employment in Morocco. They also counted for 3.5 billion in salaries, taxes, and profits, or about .4% of Morocco’s GDP. Data results may seem small. However, these numbers are huge for a single company. Just one study shows how deeply intertwined Coca-Cola is with local communities; however, this is not bad. Creating jobs and contributing to the economy is something that great businesses do.

Coca-Cola has had a significant effect on the Nation. The ingredients in Coca-Cola’s soda has been known to cause horrible side effects on the body. Some of which being ADHD in children, sleep and memory issues, and possible kidney and liver problems. They have greatly affected the water supply in India and other Asian countries. It helps to affect the health of the environment and community, especially when water is already low in these communities. Lastly, Coca-Cola has impacted the economy and job percentage of local communities in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America. Morocco’s economy and Coca-Cola are intertwined. Coca-Cola has created 20,000 jobs and made over 3.5 billion dollars for Morocco. Coca-Cola is bad for the health of the environment, individuals’ health, and good for local communities’ economies.
